creative weekend

Last weekend I was really on a roll (creatively that is :) ), made a few LO's and I really like them. If I my say so myself :) I can show you 2 now, I also made one for the Dutch Dares, but will have to wait a week.

 Treehugger
Funny pics of Tristan in France with the old peartree in the garden, he was holding it, like hugging. ;)
I love the effect of the pumice stone distress ink (love that color) on the cosmo cricket cardstock with woodgrain reliëf. Again I used ironwire for the flowerstems (I always love ironwire, I should use it more) and I love that used the really old big orange polka dot brad (isn't it great when you actually use your old stuf) for the inside of the sun.

Opa helpen (helping grandpa)
The last SC kit Lawn Party had so much fun stuf, I love the exclusive SC doiley paper (cut out a few doileys). I also love the backside (green chickenwire). I only have 1 piece so there I had a problem, but I have cut it strategic so I have left to use the barbwire side. I also love the paper towel circles, I have misted the with orange mister huey (SC).
I just love this pics, my dad was working in the garden and the boys (especially Tristan), wanted to help him with the wheelbarrow and I love that he let them.

Only 1 day left to work and then it's weekend. Well that is not totally true, because I have to be stand by whole weekend for my job (I'm a programmer and we are doing a sofware upgrade). So I take my labtop home, only in case of problems they need me, hopefully I don't have to do much, , but I have a bad feeling.

Further more we had a bad week last week.
Our wasmachine died and left us with a lot of water on the ground a some smoke, apparently something burned, but it stop luckely. I'm so glad  took a look at the machine before I went to bed. But now (of course) we already have a new one (because who could live without a wasmachine).

Etienne was at a weekend getaway with his colleagues because the boss celebrated his 65th birthday. He was in Friesland (north of Holland), they did a kind of real Frisian sports. (skutsje sealen, fierljeppen en also kaatsen). Well to keep the story short, he got a ball on his eye with kaatsen and couldn't see much anymore. He needed to go to the eyehospital, he got examined and different medications. His eye is going to be allright but all the time he can't see and details, so no reading and he can't look in the light (because his pupil stays really wide due to the medicine). After 1,5 week he can now reduce the medicine and within a week his sight have to be better. Really badluck, but I'm glad it's not permanent.

Camiel finally could swim for his diploma A last wednesday after having to do the trail version a second time. He woke up that day with almost 40 degrees Celsius fever, so that was not going to happen that day... My parents waited to go back to France do they could see him swimn. Just that day, what bad luck for him, he has to take more lessons the next weeks and has another attempt on june 22.

But then again worse thing could happen. We will laugh about it in the future.

Hugs,
Astrid

Pictures of out time in France

2 post ago I showed our Texel pictures now it's timefor the pics of our first holiday week in France (Fouvent at my parents 2nd house)

Details of the house
Another detail

There were a lot of nice sunflower fields (when we were in may we saw all coleseed fields, so also yellow) and what was growing in the field ;)
Horen, zien en zwijgen =)
We even saw a little deer, who disappeared into the field the sec. he saw us, but I had my camera ready, yeah!

Trying to make a good picture of the 4 of them, well this one is at least spontanious ;)

Sweet Tristan

Into the wide world

Also lots of cornfields

love this picture =))

Rope pulling ;)

Performance by Tristan on the mouth harp (mond harmonica), he had so much fun dancing and singing and playing. =)

Etienne and I also went 1/2 a day/evening to Dijon (nearly an hour plus 15 min. drive) A very nice city, this are the matket halls, which were already closed unfortunately. I love this markets with fresh fish and fruit and vegetables and so on.

Back home

Back home again from a week in France with my parents at their (vacation)house in Fouvent le Haut between Nancy and Dijon. The weather was not really great, but we had a lovely quiet week. I made lots of pictures, good time to practise my skills. Here some shots I like.

The back of the shed:

My mom
The boys playing soccer with grandpa on the 'cour':
Woodstove, which provided us with very welcome heath in the cold house (it has very thick walls, so it is always chilly and the only heating they have are 2 woodstoves, (they do stay there in the wintermonths, too cold and a bit depressive I think ).:
Taking a stroll around the little village:
Beautiful nature:

we wanted to take pictures in the gorgeous yellow coleseed fields (they extract oil from the seeds the fowers develop later in the season), so we took the car and Tristan (Camiel didn't want to join) found a nice field and did a shoot. We also found a woodpile which was great for a backdrop.

We use the timer for the one.
Last day we when for a hike in the neighbourhood

We found a property with old 'garbage' wher which was also cool for pictures.
Another one with the timer.

Back in the village.
A lot of reading, playing boardgames and Nintendo DS (Camiel) during the week. (I managed to do a little scrapping but I didn't had much inspiration there.)
And now where back and today everything went back in routine, school, work, daycare (and blogging :) )

Wednesday the new Dutch Dare sketch challenge goes live, come an join us if you like (we absolutely would ;) )

Another thing I like to write about is my 40th birthdayparty, Etienne threw me a (kind of) surprise party. It was so nice, I really enjoyed it. I will write more in my next post, now all I want to do is sleep.

Hugs,
Astrid

Long long time

Yep it's been a long time, life got in between blogging I guess and our holiday in France of course.
Which have been lovely by the way. The weather could have been better, quite some days with rain and lots of clouds. Well you can't have it all. First week we have been with my parents in their 2nd house in Fouvent le Haute, a little village in the province: France Compté; Region: Haute Soane. They bought the house last december so it was my first time visiting, I was really exciting to see it, of course I have seen pictures, but that's not the same. The have lots of rebuilding (is that the word? klussen) to do.

Here some pictures of the outside, like you can see they already did the shutters, burning off all the old paint, sanding and painting (lots of work it was) But it already such a different view, lovely blue.

It was really nice to spent some time with my parents there. Of course they loved to see the grandchildren for a whole week.

The 2nd week we rented a mobile-home on a campsite in the Bourgogne. It was next to a lake, which was a great area to walk around.

We visited some vide greniers (kind of garage sales). I scored some real vintage music paper and nice buttons. So I was totally happy ;)

When we got home we had still 1 week with no work, yeah loved that. Did the necessary washing and cleaning thing. But we also went to IKEA and visited
Madurodam, last time i was there I was a little kid myself. Really fun to see it again, Camiel loved it, especially the Sesamstraat part :)

Etienne and I even had 1 day together, the kids where at daycare and we did some shopping. We wanted to go to see a movie but nothing we both (!) liked at the right time.

Tristan is already 7 months... Already eating solid foods, which he seems to like more than a bottle of milk. He hasn't been feeling really well the last days, he gets 2 teeth at a time and also has a cold. Lots of waking up at night, lots of crying if we leave him alone in bed or in the box. He liked to be under the people :) Hope that will approve soon, so we get a bit more sleep. But he is still a happy kid in between...

So long post, anybody still reading :)

I have been really creative since I came home. Made lots of LO's but haven't found time to post them. Planning to do that in the follwing days.

The first 2 LO are of the scrap-club september kit, which was waiting for me at my neighbours house when we got back from France. And also the august Sudio Calico kit. Both are awesome!

For the first time I made LO's with the seize 6x12, really fun to try. And I used the vintage music paper and buttons :)

I found this picture of Etienne's mother in the 70's camping, nic eto work with such an old picture.

OK that's it for now. Try to post more LO's in the next days.
See you!
